Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced artist, this hands-on session will introduce you to the expressive and vibrant world of pastel painting in a fun and supportive environment.

Supplies: All supplies will be provided including the use of pastels, brushes/alcohol, and blending tools. It is suggested that participants use Ampersand boards which can be purchased at the workshop (or regular pastel paper will be provided at no cost). Angelina will also have reference images that can be used if participants don’t bring their own.

Meet Your Instructor: Angelina Penev
Angelina Penev is an award-winning artist who paints mainly in pastels and oils, often en Plein Air and alla prima. She retired from a career of critical care nursing and pharmaceutical sales. She enjoys teaching art using the principles of adult learning. She finds art a beautiful way to engage the viewer by touching their emotions while capturing a moment that will live on forever.
Angelina is a member of the Pastel Society of America, the American Impressionist Society, the Pastel Society of New Jersey, and Willingboro Art Alliance. She has studied under Jeanne Rosier Smith, Dan Gerhartz, Julian Merrow Smith, Aline Ordman, among others to expand her artistic skills. Her favorite subjects are waves, animals, landscapes and florals. She often paints alongside…and competes with her husband, Plamen.
What to Expect from the Workshop
🎨 All day, in-person, hands-on, in-depth pastel workshop
🖌 Techniques for mark-making, blending, and layering with hard and soft pastels
🌊 She will discuss composition and the importance of values when creating an underpainting
