Are you ready to jumpstart your artistic journey in 2025? Mark your calendar for January 8, 2025 (9:45 AM – 12 PM) and head over to the Burlington County Library Conference Room (5 Pioneer Blvd, Westampton, NJ 08060) for a free in-person art workshop led by the renowned illustrator David Watson. Hosted by the Willingboro Art Alliance (WAA), this session is open to both WAA members and non-members—so bring your friends, neighbors, or anyone with a passion for creative expression (or just free pencils!).
David Watson, a New Jersey-born artist inspired by legendary illustrators like Howard Pyle, Frank Schoonover, and N.C. Wyeth, will guide you through his unique methods for developing original artwork and exploring new materials. From building thumbnail sketches to experimenting with perspective, you’ll learn insider tips on how to spark your imagination and bring characters to life on paper. Supplies—paper, charcoal, pencils, and colored pencils—will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring subject matter of their own choosing (so if you’ve been dying to immortalize your houseplants, now’s your chance!).
During this workshop, you’ll dive into composition principles, simplified perspective, and dynamic sketching—all while tapping into what makes your creativity flourish. Whether you’re a seasoned painter or have only doodled on napkins, you’ll walk away with fresh ideas, new techniques, and a dash of confidence.
